how to build axles/wheels?

Hey, this is a continuation of my thread. This time, i need to know what Materials i need to make an axle/wheels that move. to be placed in wooden material?

if you can post instructions on how to build one, would be good too, but materials is most important!

I had to do a project that needed small wheels too, I just went to the store and bought those finger bikes (idk if they still make them) then detached the wheels and put them on a little metal rod.

You pretty much get a block of wood and sand it down to resemble a car, about 6 inches long. Then there are little CO2 tanks in the back that you puncture with a nail and then you race them.
