What do you mean what the top 1% does with their taxes? It's nearly 40%! It's ridiculous... They have to carry at least 10x more than their fair share. This is how I look at it... If you want to give funds to welfare, great...good for you. Don't use my money though, use yours. You can't force what somebody has earned to give it to what somebody hasn't earned.

1. imagine you are in the top 1% you are making 8.8 million a year. here are the rules. you cannot: invest, put it in a bank for the money to grow, or keep the money. you need to spend it all out in 1 year. you cannot also buy something more than once (one house, one car, etc)

2. one year passes. what do you do with remaining money that you have? you already have a 1.3 million dollar house. you have your yacht. you have your 500k imported from italy. now what do you do with all of that money?

the people at the top sit on it and don't spend it, and find loopholes in the tax code just so they can keep their money.

also they should pay their fair share. if you want to live in the dystopia that was 1930's america go straight ahead. don't forget that if you live in America you share the sense of community that all Americans should have. i don't think you understand it's a social responsibility to help others rather than a fiscal one

I understand what you mean about helping one another out, but it shouldn't be the governments job to tell me who I have to give my money to. If a buddy of mine lost his job and had a baby on the way, of course I'd give him some extra cash so he's ok.

But honestly it is a lot less desirable for me to have to give money to people who have no desire to make this society a better place, people who don't want to learn english, people who just want to mooch off of the government and have no desire to become successful. I don't consider them Americans, especially when they are more proud and love the country they hailed from more than they do mine.

Excellent link someone sent me - these figures are from about 6 years ago and i bet they have gotten even worse as more and more scurry over the border rather than fighting to make their own country better.
