I do believe in the teachings of the Catholic church. I do believe in the bible...I also believe that if I (or anyone) follows the teachings of the Catholic church/bible they will live a good, moral, happy life they can look back on from their death bed and be proud of. If when I die there is just nothingness and I simply cease to exist that's fine, I'll be happy with the life I've lived...or actually I won't be anything...but you get my point.

If God told me himself that he is the only god, I would pray only to him and follow whichever laws he made. However, every religion feels their religion is the only right one, and each is based on a book written by men. I will not stake my eternal salvation on the hopes that the people writing one particular book we're just having a laugh at our expense. If someone you never met came up to you and told you Bill G would give you the $5M if you wore the green hat, would you then? What if the person translating missed a word, and meant to say if you never wear a green hat for the rest of your life? Oops, you just lost that 5M, and are wearing a goofy hat.

To your point, however, I don't presume to know the mind of God. Those who say that homosexuality, which God created, is evil do however. And in fact, you said higher up that homosexuals are sinners, and would be going to hell. So you are presuming to know what is required for salvation. As for me, I don't presume to know what god wants, but if he wants to condemn people he created different than others, he can have his heaven. I'll hang out with the cool kids elsewhere.

IF I'm wrong and end up living my life in a good/moral way following the teachings of the Bible/Catholic Church and die and nothing happens, I think I'll be ok with that. I honestly can't imagine anyone being happier in their life than I am so I don't feel I'm missing anything by trying to live according to these "rules".

I absolutely NEVER said homosexuals are going to hell. I don't have time to go find the post you are referring to now as I have to leave shortly, but if I made a post that implied that then I 100% take it back. If I am thinking of the right post then I was saying that I believe that if you don't believe in God you go to hell (but even that is not my call, just what I as a Catholic believe...I honestly hope I'm wrong and God LOLs at me while I have a Sam Adams with DangerDog)...I'm not sure if having gay sex is a damnable sin or not...Not for me to say but gun to my head I would say it is most likely not.

I hate when people say stuff like this. IF you are wrong and I am right and you do die and go to Hell (not judging here, just making a point) then you will not be "hanging out" with these people. The bible gives a description of Hell and I'm fairly certain that you would not be enjoying it. If you don't believe in Heaven/Hell that is fine and even on some level understandable. But don't be so ignorant as to think if you happen to be wrong about the whole God thing that your "consolation prize" of hell will be anything enjoyable.
